Hello loves, happy Wednesday!
Next up in the Collage Series is a leisurely stroll through some of the collage decks in my collection, both tarot and oracle. A couple are new to me so I’m still getting to know them, but all inspire me to keep working on my own deck.
This might sound like a silly obvious thing to say but I’m always amazed by how varied collage can be. I definitely have a preference for analogue over digital but even within the former there’s a million ways to stick pieces of paper together.
The deeper I wade into this revived passion the more my comfort zone shifts. Right now my office smells like vintage papers and almonds1. I’m trying things “just to see if it works”. I’m obsessing over a piece for two hours only to then make something else I prefer in five minutes.
I’m throwing out my own rule book and wondering what other rule books2 should be shown the door.
At the end of the video I mention the creators of the Spolia Tarot said it took them three years to make the deck.
This was exactly the reminder I needed to slow my roll.
The prospect of a project taking three years is horrifying to an ADHD brain. I operate in a constant state of “now or never” and require truck loads of dopamine to make it through a work day, but the part of me that’s not ruled by the ADHD pixie has proof that I CAN endure and complete long projects.
So I’m holding the deck dream very lightly, trusting that the images will find me.
For now, all I have to do is play!
