Oh I love this! Sweet Baba! And your new lovies are so precious. I can’t wait to see more videos. I too am trying to start a YouTube channel this year and learning to film. Scary but exciting! 💖
Watching the kittens make biscuits and "nurse" the blanket! My black kitty does that! And it has to be a particular kind of blanket for her to "nurse". What a wonderful re-cap! Your Youtube channel will be fabulous when you launch it. I'm positive!
Beautiful and poignant. Thank you for sharing this. 2024 was a year of multiple devastating goodbyes for me. It was a very difficult year. I hope to have a few more hellos in 2025, starting with a plan to adopt a shelter dog soon! I just retired from a stressful career so I hope to say hello to my dormant hobbies as well, most notably my creative pursuits like journaling. The washi-tape drawer sings to me!
I just found my goal list from 2018, on which I had listed "adopt a dog." It ended up being one of the very best things I have done in my life (definitely in the top five). Wishing you many great adventures ahead!
I love that your leaning into your video creation. I too find it intimidating. It’s so interesting how easily my kids can put together a lovely video. I think it’s the filming as well. Not really in the habit of capturing things. I am so grateful for the blogging days when the kids were young, because I have a lot of awesome high quality photos and I also captured it in writing too. We looked over videos during this Christmas break, and boy, was the quality bad on my little cellphone 15 years ago! My brothers on the other hand, invested in a camcorder early on, and their footage was amazing. It’s going to be a lovely record that you’re creating! (I wonder if I can be bold and embrace it in 2025 too!)
Urgh the intimidation of video! I'm feeling my way into my YouTube channel and it still feels weird and icky. Your last paragraph really resonated as I've just written a piece about beginning energy vs push energy and how each makes me feel. Glad I'm not alone in that!
Can I add to the love and admiration? I SO enjoyed it! Thank you for the mix of still and moving images, and the easy pace of it all (in keeping with the laid-back soundtrack). I cannot cope with flitting images - it makes me nauseous - so I really appreciated the pace :) Do more, my lovely, you have the gift of film-making :D xxx
Yes to the film making, I can feel the joy! A future course in the making? I'd love to learn some skills from you there. Such precious moments from your year, thank you Susannah. I'm enjoying painting again and taking an online course with Tamara LaPorte called Year of Light. It feels very uplifting and positive, loving learning watercolour techniques.
This was SO lush - loved it. Baba at the start tho [makes a happy but sad face] - documenting your life in moving imagery is so much fun and your videos are FAB, so just keep creating innit - LOVE YOU xxx PS clearly you need more videos of ME playing with kittens xxx
Beautiful! 💖 Thank you for this generous dose of dopamine! ☺️ Cheering you on as you continue to discover new creative ways to express your magic and the magic that surrounds you.
So I edited this with Final Cut Pro. I've just started using it / learning - before I was using iMovie simply because it came on my mac. With both programs i just picked up the basics from YouTube, though i'm feeling more motivated to get into FCP a bit more... we'll see!
Yes to all the video's. I love seeing all the colour and beauty you find and gather in your world. My daughter at university has been making 1 sec a day type videos. They were really popular a few years back, but I'd forgotten all about them and so I started doing that again this year. Usually I feel like my life is too boring when I am making them, especially when it's another shot of me stirring soup or my feet on a walk, but looking back through past years I really appreciate having all the little snippets of the ordinary moments, the things that make up this precious life.
Oh my gosh I LOVED that sooo much. Thank you so much for sharing Susannah!!
Thank you Zoie! ❤️

I loved this so much. We miss you Baba! Thank you for sharing this with us.
She was the best girl 😍
That was so sweet and felt like a big warm blanket :) Hooray for healthy dopamine!
>>May I ask what video-making software you use (am I even saying that right? lol).
The only software I've used so far felt very difficult and complicated. Thank you!
Blanket videos are my favourites 🩷

I love that, Jane! Stirring soup and taking a walk really are the precious moments that matter ❤️
Lovely. Thank you.
Makes me miss having a kitty companion for sure.
